If you were a pedestrian and you were hit by a car, and injured, chances are you’re going to need to hire a lawyer. How do you know which attorney is best? All these lawyers’ advertisements on TV, billboards and their websites all look the same. What does that tell you about the ability of that attorney? What does that tell you about whether that attorney is really the best attorney for you? How do you know?

Number one, you have to have an attorney who has experience in this area of law and has done these cases before. Number two, you need a trial lawyer. You need an attorney who is a board certified personal injury specialist who is a trial attorney because oftentimes these cases are going to require the filing of a lawsuit and the preparing of a lawsuit. Finally, and most important, you have to have a very good working relationship with that lawyer because you may be working with this lawyer as a team, on this case, for the next couple of years. If your lawyer is too busy and has too many files to talk to you and to know who you are, they’re not going to be able to help you. If they don’t talk to you and answer your questions, and are not willing to take the time up front, they’re not going to give you the time of day to build up your case. You’re just going to be waiting for money to fall out of the sky from the insurance company, and that’s not going to happen.

Here’s what you need to do: call a number of attorneys. See who talks to you. See who takes an interest in you. See who takes the time to answer your questions and find out what your case is about. When you talk to those lawyers, figure out who was it that you had the closest connection to, who you felt would do the best in protecting your interests, who had your interests at heart. That is how you find the best attorney for your case.
