Disability Insurance (Short and Long-Term) For Las Vegas Shooting Victims
For those of you who were injured or have family members who were injured who were employed, there may be short-term or long-term disability insurance available. Often short-term and long-term disability insurance is part of a person’s employment package.
It may be necessary for you to contact the employer to determine if there is short-term and long-term disability insurance that covers your loved one’s inability to work due to his or her injuries. Some people, however, have private disability insurance. In either instance, you will need to make a claim with the disability insurance carrier. With short-term disability, there is often a waiting period before benefits become available. As a result, any claim for short-term disability insurance coverage should be made as soon as possible.
If your loved one remains unable to return to work for an extended period of time, often in excess of six months or more, long-term disability insurance will have to take over. You will need to examine all short-term and long-term disability policies to determine the notification requirements, waiting periods and what constitutes a disability that requires the insurance company to pay you benefits.
